Greater Birth Missionary Church Of God

Church History

Our Church History

Greater Birth Missionary Church of God was founded in January of 2010 by Pastor William Hosley, Jr. and a handful of believers.  The first church home was located in a small building located at 935 North Bethel Street in Thomaston, Georgia.  It was not the size of the building that mattered to Pastor Hosley; it was about preaching God’s words and saving souls that were lost.  The first service was held on Sunday, January 24, 2010 at 11:00 a.m.  The sermon title on this joyous day was “God Saw the Best in Me”.  We had a hallelujah good time on that day and it marked the beginning of “great things” for the Greater Birth Family.  In this small, but adequate Christian home, the word of God provided the love to inspire fellowship.  We established our Mission Statement: “Heaven Is Our Goal” and also our Church Motto:  “The Church That Is Doing Great Things For God”.  We also selected our church colors, which are “yellow and black”.  As we continued to worship and magnify the Lord, our membership and congregation continued to grow.

In August of 2010, God began working out another plan by preparing the way for the Greater Birth Family to move to a new church home located at 300 Fourth Avenue, SW in Thomaston, Georgia, which is our current location.  Oh what a mighty God we serve!  On September 19, 2010, we marched into our new church home, along with family and friends, dressed in yellow and black,  singing “We’ve Come This Far By Faith” being led by our Pastor and First Lady. God has continued to increase our membership and congregation.  He has also continued to increase Greater Birth’s influence.  We’ve been blessed with several ministries serving the church and community.  Our history reflects how God can keep His truth alive in a changing world when there are willing soldiers to do His work.
